Nora The Pride of Kildare

 1st  As beauteous as Flora is charming young Nora,
The joy of my heart and the pride of Kildare;
I ne’er will deceive her, for sadly twould grieve her
To find that I sighed for another less fair.

Her heart with truth teeming, her eye with smiles beaming
What mortal could injure a blossom so rare,
As Nora, sweet Nora, the pride of Kildare?

2nd  Where ere I may be, love, I’ll ne’er forget thee, love.
Though beauties may smile and try to ensnare;
Yet nothing shall ever my heart from thine sever,
Dear Nora, sweet Nora, the pride of Kildare.

Her heart with truth teeming, her eye with smiles beaming
What mortal could injure a blossom so rare,
As Nora, sweet Nora, the pride of Kildare?

In Shelby County, Alabama, Alfred M. and Mary Ann settled on Yellow Leaf Creek, on land which is today about nine miles northwest of Columbiana, three miles south of Chelsea, and twenty miles in a direct line from Birmingham. They and their offspring developed a community centering around Lester's Chapel. Now, a century later, scores of their descendants, bearing the Lester, Nolen, Watson, Walton, Poindexter, and Wingard names, are to be found within a radius of fifteen miles of the Chapel, or in the neighboring Jefferson County. - Robert MacDonald Lester 1937
