A
Connection to Your Branch of My Family Tree |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
We are all members of the family tree of
man. If you look back far enough, you will
find that we are all related. One of my
Mother’s favorite sayings was a quote from
Edwin Markham –
“There is a destiny that
makes us brothers:
None goes his way alone
All that we send into the live of others
Comes back into our own. ”
My parents, Johnnie and Dot Barnes, not only
raised me and my brothers in the fear and
love of the almighty God, but also instilled
in me a love for family connections and an
understanding of the need to nurture family
relationships. They were my encouragers,
mentors, and inspiration to research family
history. It is in that spirit that I
dedicate this web page to their memory.
My intent is to provide information about
what is going on in the lives of my family
and at the same time share some of the
interesting history that constitutes our
heritage. The information contained on these
pages is not intended for my profit or the
profit of others. If I inadvertently include
information that you would prefer to keep
private, please notify me and I will
promptly remove it from these web pages. In
the meantime, please come back regularly, as
I will continue to update and build these
pages as time permits. |

In this section, you will find information about
recent births, deaths, marriages, reunions, and
other life events of my Barnes family relatives.
This will be the same information that I try to keep
current in the “Out on a Limb” newsletter that I
print and distribute twice each year. If I have
missed a special event or if you have something to
add, please contact me so that I can include it
here. |

Early History of
the Barnes Family in Alabama
Much of the information we have about the early
history of our ancestors in Alabama comes directly
from a journal that was kept by Michael Harrison
Barnes. Click here for
excerpts from that journal and other information
about our Barnes heritage. |
My Lester,
Jackson, and Harper Family Lines
My mother, Dot Barnes, was my true inspiration for
pursuing information on our family history. My
entire life she tried to pass down to me many family
stories, most of which have proved to be founded in
fact. I have tried to document in the following
pages some of the rich (and some racy) stories that
I could preserve.
